Thanks for staying engaged with our community. Your contributions help us all become better at what we do. Looking forward to another week of valuable discussions.

In heated moments, I use an explain–pause–choice script: state the rule, pause three seconds, then offer two compliant options and quietly key PTT to our Visitor Assist talkgroup so @ShiftLead can stage nearby without crowding. That pause usually drops the temperature and keeps access control firm but friendly. If it isn’t landing, I angle 45° off-center and let a few seconds of silence work before denying entry.

I keep a laminated ‘house rules’ card; if someone resists, I set it down, write their name and the two allowed options, and say ‘Which works for you?’ — seeing it slows things like a ref’s timeout. @katie_hall47 I love the talkgroup cue; small caveat, our LTE PTT lags in the garage so we keep a DMR hotkey as backup for a silent assist. If it starts tipping toward safety risk, we create space and escalate per policy to local services.
