It’s funny how everyone assumes our uniforms are just for show. Just last week, a kid tried to sell me candy outside the mall, thinking I was a mall cop. I didn’t know whether to laugh or question his business strategy. Anyone else have any amusing encounters on the job?
I’ve had a few kids try to sell me stuff too; I usually just play along until they realize I’m not a malls’ enforcer. Once, I told a kid his candy could be ‘the real deal’ if he could convince me it was for charity — totally confused him! Ever had any good comebacks?
Haha I know right? One time I ‘arrested’ a kid for trying to hand me a flyer! Did he think I was just a giant billboard?
What’s the wildest pitch you’ve heard?
It’s wild how people see the uniform and think we’re all about enforcing rules. I had a kid offer me a discount on his lemonade stand once, thinking I was a ‘taste tester’ on patrol! What’s the weirdest sale pitch you’ve heard while working out there?
