Building trust as a school security guard

And i’ve noticed that taking a few minutes each day to chat with students can go a long way in making them feel safe and understood. Just last week, I had a great conversation with a student who’s been feeling anxious about the school year. It’s all about creating relationships; knowing they can approach me makes a big difference in their comfort levels.

I totally agree that chatting with students helps build trust. I found that sharing a bit about my own experiences, like facing first-day jitters, really opened them up about their own anxieties. It’s amazing how relatable stories can make us all feel a little less alone.
